Cat World Domination Day

Has your kitty managed to make herself the unofficial head of your household? Does Fluffy boss you around, rather than doing what she’s told? Our feline overlords may be small, but they have some pretty big egos. In fact, Fluffy’s self-esteem has earned its own special holiday. June 24th is Cat World Domination Day! In this article, an Orangevale, CA vet discusses Fluffy’s plans to take over the world.

The Internet

Although Fluffy can’t spell, use a mouse, or navigate social media, she’s still managed to leave her paw prints all over the world wide web. In fact, one of the few things the internet agrees on is the fact that kitties are absolutely adorable!

Kitty History

As you may have heard, cats have enjoyed quite a bit of power in the past. They were actually considered sacred in ancient Egypt, and lived a pampered life of luxury. As the quote says, Fluffy has never forgotten the fact that she was once worshipped. That adorable smug look kitties do so well is a great reminder of that.

Fluffy’s Master Plan

Cats really are truly remarkable creatures. Unlike most of the other animals we have domesticated, they don’t really need us. Fluffy is an amazing hunter, and is quite self-sufficient. While a pet housecat will not have the skills to survive in the wild, kitties born feral quickly learn to fend for themselves. That said, Fluffy clearly doesn’t mind being pampered, and has no qualms about wrapping her humans around her paws.

The Meow

Did you know that cats may have started meowing just so they could boss us around? As it turns out, adult kitties rarely ‘speak’ to one another through vocalizing. Instead, they use facial expressions and body language to communicate. Why does Fluffy talk to us? While our feline friends will probably never admit this, it seems that they figured out long ago that we have a very hard time refusing those plaintive meows. In fact, when those meows are coupled with an adorable face, and also happen to sound like the cries of a human baby, they become almost impossible to resist. Turns out, meowing is a great way to get a meal, some ear scritches, and a soft bed!
