Keeping Your Cat Happy and Healthy

September is Happy Healthy Cat Month! Of course, Fluffy would no doubt insist that every month is Happy Healthy Cat Month. Kitties love to be pampered, and they are very good at wrapping us around their paws and getting us to spoil them. Read on as a Folsom, CA vet lists some easy ways to keep your furball’s motor going.

Kitties are predators in the wild, and have deep-seated instinctual urges to pounce on things. Offer your furball lots of fun toys to push under the couch.

Our feline buddies are very sleepy. Fluffy can nap up to 20 hours a day! Setting out lots of comfy beds will help keep your furry buddy comfy and purring.

Regular play sessions will also help keep Fluffy content. Even spending just a few minutes a day holding a laser pointer or wand toy for your cat will be beneficial.

Fluffy is a master snuggler, and loves to be petted and held. Pay lots of attention to your cat, and let her nap on your lap, so she feels loved and safe.

Cats need stimulation to keep from getting bored and restless. Make sure that Fluffy has at least one comfy spot before a window with a good view, so she can watch what’s going on outdoors.

Good Food

Proper nutrition is very important! Offer your kitty a high-quality food. Don’t overfeed your furball, however. If Fluffy becomes obese, she could face some very serious medical issues!

Clean Facilities

Keep Fluffy’s purrsonal powder room clean. We recommend scooping daily, and changing the litter every week or so. Cats hate dirty bathrooms!

Kitty Comforts

Small touches can help keep your kitty comfortable and happy. When Fluffy is home alone, turn a radio on for her. The sound of voices will help stop her from feeling lonely. Be sure to leave a light on as well.

Veterinary Care

We know, most of our feline patients would rather take yet another nap than visit us. However, it’s important to make sure your kitty sees the vet regularly. Follow your vet’s recommended appointment schedule. In between visits, keep an eye out for signs of sickness. Call us right away if you see any red flags.

Please contact us, your Folsom, CA vet clinic, for all of your cat’s veterinary care needs. We are happy to help!
