Celebrating National Cat Day

Did you know there’s a special kitty holiday coming up? October 29th s National Cat Day! While Fluffy would no doubt insist that every day should be National Cat Day, this is a purrfect chance to pamper your feline friend. An Orangevale, CA vet offers tips on how to celebrate this cute kitty holiday below.

A new toy is a great gift for your feline buddy. Fluffy may enjoy a classic cat toy, like a catnip mouse or a plastic ball. Or, get her something new, like an automated laser pointer or remote-controlled mouse. Of course, some cats would prefer batting at a crumpled up piece of paper. There’s no accounting for taste!

Offer your furball a special snack. A can of plain tuna, chicken, or salmon in water is a good bet. You can also offer Fluffy some shredded deli meat, or some plain, boneless meat, fish, or chicken.

Cat Chat

Most cats love it when their owners talk to them. Go ahead and tell Fluffy that she’s a good kitty. She may immediately start her engine!

Kitties certainly are very sleepy. Is looking cute really that hard? Whatever the answer, it’s safe to say that your drowsy pet will appreciate a comfy new bed.

Take a cute picture of Fluffy and share it on social media. The internet always needs more cat photos!

Veterinary Care

We know, given the choice, Fluffy would literally scratch this one off the list. However, it’s important to keep up with her veterinary care. If your furball is overdue, let this be a reminder to make an appointment.

One surefire way to brighten up Fluffy’s day is to just spend some time playing with her. You may find that holding a laser pointer for your kitty is a great way to relax after a long workday!

Want to really get that little motor going? Offer Fluffy some of her favorite plant. If your pet doesn’t seem to care for catnip, offer her a honeysuckle toy instead.

Last but not least, just spend some time with your kitty. If Fluffy is a lap cat, let her curl up on you for a snooze. Time spent cuddling with purring cats is never wasted!
